This project was completed on a building that was built in 1900 as a school. It was vital that the heritage aspects of the building were protected and preserved as works progressed. The building is now used as a day time child care centre.
Scope of Works
- Removal and replacement of existing decking with hardwood timber decking. - Replacement of structural timber beams. - Painting of the stairways and handrails - Lead flashing work
Timing of Works
As the area of work was above the play space of the children, it was necessary to schedule the works for the Christmas holiday close down.
Benefits to Client during Works
- Project was completed in the required timeframe which was critical for all stakeholders. - No OHS and/or Environmental issues. - High quality of workmanship with attention to detail in maintaining the heritage fabric. - No defects on project completion. - Good communication techniques for the duration of the works with all parties involved. - Completed project through development & implementation of Site Specific Management Plan.
