Slate Roofing

Invaluable Experience

The experience of a qualified slater is invaluable in keeping the slate roof watertight. Murphys Slate Roofing Services have been providing NSW for over 20 years with qualified and experienced roof slaters who have repaired and replace many heritage buildings slate roof.

Assessing a Slate Roof

The most critical areas of a slate roof are the places where concentrations of water overlap, such as box gutters, valleys and vertical parapets walls or chimneys, unfortunately, because of their failure large volumes of water can enter the building and cause building deficiencies.

Roof Inspections

Regular and consistent inspections and maintenance is critical to a slate roof. Tell tale signs for a slate roof failure are uneven lines across the slate roof or slipping slate tiles. Additionally, noticeable cracked slate tiles and broken slate tiles identify significant examples of slate roof tile inadequacies.

Recent Projects

Amongst our recent projects are a number of prestigious renovations:

Victoria Barracks over 5000 square metres
Georges Heights Officers Buildings
Sisters of Mercy Coogee

Georges Heights Mosman Former Officers Mess

During World War One the third largest military hospital in Australia operated from Georges Heights. In 1956 the sandstone barracks were remodelled as an Officers Mess and the Women’s Royal Australian Army Corps training school moved onto the site. Last century this was used as a defence of Sydney with gun placements and tunnels for the troops to move around protected from possible invaders. All this can be seen today with the tours conducted.
